Official: WB has to stop bias against Russia, become constructive
MOSCOW, Apr 13 (PRIME) -- The World Bank (WB) should end its bias against Russia to return to constructive work and focus on solving the world’s poverty problem successfully, Deputy Prime Minister and WB Governor for Russia Alexei Overchuk told PRIME.
WB Development Committee earlier finished a third consecutive session without approving a final communique.
“I suppose that some countries should understand by now that they have to stop their biased attitude toward Russia and stop the attempts to politicize the activity of the World Bank, which contradict its charter, in order to solve the problems that the world is facing,” Overchuk said.
“The modern global challenges warrant the international institution’s return to a constructive mode of operation and joint concentration of all of its members to solve the poverty problem and provide coordinated support to the poor developing countries.”
